About Be Independent Community Equipment and Response Service
Be Independent is a newly formed Social Enterprise Community Interest Company, formerly known as City of York Council Community Equipment Loan Service (CELS) and Warden Call Service.
At Be Independent our mission is simple - to promote lifelong independence. We aim to do this by creating a high quality, comprehensive and sustainable telecare and equipment service that redefines care delivery, and helps people manage their lives and stay independent in their own homes through life enhancing equipment solutions.
Being a social enterprise means we are a business with a social purpose - our social purpose is supporting people to live independently in their own homes for as long as possible.
Our employees, are integral to our ability to provide a quality service. Their experience and skills and dedication to their work are what makes us able to deliver the help and support you need whenever you call upon us.
What do we do with any profits? Well, all our surplus goes back into developing our services in the communities in which we work, so you – and we – can be the best we can.
We have 57 dedicated employees working 24/7 to provide assistance and support as required by our customers. Be Independent offers several services:
Equipment Loan Service
Be Independent’s purpose-designed office-warehouse facility provides the local community with a reliable and responsive equipment loan service. Our dedicated and highly-trained team of staff have a wealth of knowledge and many years' experience inspecting, maintaining and delivering high-quality equipment. Staff respond quickly to requests and equipment is delivered, using our own vehicles, direct to the required location.
Response Services
Our Telecare Response Service offers 24/7 support to help individuals maintain independent living at home. The service allows peace of mind for elderly people, or those with health conditions and their carers. A Lifeline box installed in your home connects sensors to the operations centre where our dedicated team are on standby day and night to respond to your needs. Our wardens not only offer emergency response, but carry out regular home visits to offer advice and support to customers.
